MUSEUM MANAGER & CURATOR, 2019

Timber Village Museum - Blind River, ON 

  • Manage the development and overall operation of the museum, devising and directing staff and resources for the protection and use of historical resources through management plans, procedures, and policies

  • Direct staff in areas of interpretation, visitor services, and collections management, as well as program development and delivery

  • Prepare and implement operational work plans, control administrative activities, as well as develop and maintain a strong public relations program

  • Curate temporary art shows and long-term history exhibits, facilitate research requests, and oversee the daily operations of the museum and art gallery site

ARCHIVES & RESEARCH INTERN, 2019

 National History Committee, Canadian Society for Civil Engineering - London, ON 

  • Digitize, transcribe, and organize previously conducted oral history interviews with notable Canadian civil engineers

  • Create policy manual for the conducting of future oral history interviews

Assisted in the consolidation of documents pertaining to the history of the JBCA including establishing two digital databases for visitor records and archival material.

COLLECTIONS & CURATORIAL INTERN, 2018

Guelph Museums- Guelph, ON

A 430-hour field placement completed as part of the Applied Museum Studies diploma requirements. Working mainly out of the Guelph Civic Museum, I performed tasks relating to data entry, digitization, cataloguing inventory, and artefact research, as well as exhibition development and installation.

  • Conducted research on new donations and acquisitions

  • Developed a case exhibition on Toys and Games for the museum's Royal City's Family Gallery 

  • Contributed to the digitization of digitization of the daily journals of a Guelph businessman, scanning 15 complete journals

  • Produced a short video remembrance montage for the 100th Anniversary of Lt. Col. John McCrae's passing

PROGRAM ASSISTANT, 2017

Juno Beach Centre Association - Burlington, ON

Assisted in the execution of the national commemorative initiative entitled From Vimy to Juno as well as the planning and execution of a commemorative event for the 75th Anniversary of D-Day.

COLLECTIONS TECHNICIAN, 2016

Dundas Museum & Archives – Dundas, ON

Responsible for updating artefact database records for 125 artefacts, assisting with the installation of exhibits and researching 70 artist biographies for an art show.

  • Greeted and conducted tours for Museum visitors

  • Assisted with the execution of children’s programming for the "Made in Dundas" family festival

Consulted as subject matter expert to select contents from these records for use in various social media and education deliverables.

CONFERENCE REPRESENTATIVE, 2017

Juno Beach Centre Association - Ottawa, ON

Attended the two-day Ontario History and Social Studies Teachers' Association (OHASSTA) Conference in Ottawa, Ontario on behalf of the JBCA.  

  • Explained the mission of the JBCA to conference attendees 

  • Answered questions from educators relating to the JBCA's Summer Institute for history teachers

  • Promoted the education tools produced by the JBCA for Canadian teachers and students

CATALOGUING VOLUNTEER, 2017

Bytown Fire Brigade Museum - Ottawa, ON

The Historical Society has not produced any paper records for over a decade, thus artefact research and cataloguing will act as the base for the establishment of a database for the museum to utilized henceforth. 

  • Initiated the cataloguing of the Fire Brigade’s collection

  • Established a numbering system for the collection

  • Utilized pigma pens and Acryloid B-72 to apply accession numbers to artefacts

 

EVENTS & SOCIAL COORDINATOR, 2015-2016

McMaster Undergraduate History Society – Hamilton, ON

Planned MUHS gathering and outings and worked with the promotions team to promote events

  • Acted as an ambassador between the Department of History and the wider Hamilton community

  • Worked closely with the executive team to ensure the smooth operation and expansion of the society

COLLECTIONS VOLUNTEER, 2015

Dufferin County Museum & Archives – Mulmur, ON

Volunteered in the Collections Department accessioning, photographing and reorganizing collections.

  • Conducted artefact research using “DuffStuff” database

  • Performed data entry for newly accessioned collections

  • Reorganized and rehoused a collection of animal-themed artworks

  • Received funded research internship to work with the Canadian Society of Civil Engineering to update the historic sites section of their National History Committee's website, catalogue the Committee's archive, and to revise their policies on conducting oral histories.
