Conservation

Treatment of a Royal Grafton bone china teacup. All break edges were cleaned to remove any loose surface contaminants before B72 Acryloid was used to rejoin the sherds. An area of loss was recreated employing Aluwax dental impression wax and glass micro balloons with 20% w/v B72 in Acetone. The recreated section was then inpainted with Pedeo acrylic paints.

Treatment of a 19th Century sad iron. Active and inactive corrosion was identified, removed via electrolytic reduction, and pacified with tannic acid. 

Treatment of a c. 1912 Barker Ellis sugar bowl belonging to the National Capital Commission, Official Residences. The active and inactive corrosion products were identified the removed and pacified using Silvo. The accession label was successfully removed and the number reapplied to the base of the vessel using India Ink and B72 Acryloid.

3D Object Mount

Constructed a mount for a vinyl "Pop Figure" of the character Ron Swanson from Parks & Rec. The mount was carved from a block of ethafoam and the object secured with tyvek ties. The mount was placed in a custom chloroplast box with a lid. 

Mechanically cleaned a City of Ottawa Fire Insurance Plan from 1956. The torn binding holes were repaired with Japanese tissue and wheat startch paste. The cleaned paper artefact was then encapsulated in mylar for storage.

Dry and aqueous cleaning of a 20th century jacquard weaved napkin made of cotton and rayon. Try cleaning was performed with a HEPA museum vacuum and soft bristle brush, while aqueous cleaning was performed with Orvus detergent in tepid water. An accession number was applied using a tyvek strip and 100% polyester thread. 

Custom Mannequin

Custom mannequin built for a christening dress made from ethafoam, cotton batting, and grey jersey-knit fabric. Sewn with blind hem stitch for aesthetic appeal.
